Beautiful city, the Vondelpark is so nice, and the museum area is wonderful. If you love cycling, it is the best way to get around, walking is also great everything is so close, and so easy to get around. Lots of great cafes/restaurants to each that accomodate all budgets. Food is delicious. Love the farmers markets they are virtually every day at different locations. Lots of fantastic museums to visit, time it so that you are visiting museums when the weather is wet, and visit outdoor parks when the weather is nice. Amsterdam is full of culture. One thing that really stood out is how friendly the people are in Amsterdam. Highly recommend a visit. Only criticism I have is the weather, make sure you take a warm coat is can get very cold.

This was my third trip to Amsterdam.
This was my third trip to Amsterdam. The first was in 1977 and the last was in 2008. I have read that Amsterdam is working to discourage tourists. I see why. It was CRAZY crowded. It was hard to find a place to sit by the canal and have a beer. It was hard to find a place to eat at night. Crowds, crowds, crowds. My previous trips were wonderful. Strolling along the canals and stopping for a coffee and beer. Going to the Van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum and being able to look at a painting without some idiot taking a selfie in front of it. This trip was different. (Both previous trip were also in April.) I was glad to see the back of it.

Amsterdam is painfully beautiful, normal, peaceful and pampering. This despite being full of tourists. Many places in the world can learn from the Dutch how to live simply, stress free, frugally, healthfully with a good quality of life for themselves and their children.

The city is like a fairytale.
The city is like a fairytale. There is new beauty around every corner. However it's very crowded with people and it's often difficult to walk the sidewalks, especially with the bicycles whizzing by. The bicycles are kamikaze. Never take your eyes off the bike lanes. They don't stop for people. You need to make reservations to get into most restaurants. They fill up fast. The tram system is superb. You hop on and off with a credit card tap (Not AmEx). Same with the buses and underground metro. The large ubiquitous grocery stores do not take credit cards. Only debit or cash. But they have fresh-squeezed orange juice machines to fill up bottles with fresh juice. Fantastic!

An amazing city even in a chilly, wet, sunny Spring! So much to enjoy, to do, to tour. And, very nice people too. Good restaurants and bars and very good mass transits. I recommend the Free Walking Tour as well as the Canal Boat ride (1 hr is enough).

Situated in a small village on the outskirts of Amsterdam, this cottage has a wonderful, picturesque backyard patio, where you can see all the local animals in their natural habitat. The hotel restaurant nearby is absolutely delicious and really takes on any of the inner city ones. We loved the host, had a very intriguing chat with her, she was extremely nice and helpful. There is also an Albert Heijn outlet nearby, should you have any need for groceries.
